BIO 368 - Advanced Molecular BiologyCourse Units: 1 (Not offered in 2014-15) Many of the advances made in the understanding of gene expression and gene regulation have been based on work done in microbial systems. This course will look at the molecular mechanisms involved in gene expression and regulation, as well as how bacterial systems have become advanced tools for the study of these processes. Combined lecture and lab course meets twice/week for 3 hours. Laboratory will emphasize the use of molecular techniques to evaluate environmental microbial populations. Prerequisite(s): BIO 225 and CHM 231 or permission of the instructor. One Saturday field trip required.
