(Fall; Sargent) The conquest of Jerusalem and the Holy Land by knights from western Europe and the response of the region’s Muslims, 1096-1291. Special attention is given to the development of a crusading spirit and its corruption under the influence of religious, political, and economic expediency and personal greed.
