HST 332 - Transnational America

Course Units: 1
(Not offered in 2014-15) The United States is now the center of global production, yet it is also swept by the forces of international cultural change. How did we reach that position and what consequences does it have for our national integrity, our identity as Americans, our way of life, and our relationship to other nations and peoples? Students read recent literature on the history of transnationality and globalism as it has affected the economy, ethnic identity, cultural production (in literature and film), and international relations of the United States in the twentieth century. Prerequisite(s): Any 100-level or 200-level history course or permission of the instructor. CC: LCC
