MLT 300T - Irkutsk, Russia Internship

Course Units: 1
(Not offered this Academic Year) This course is designed to help students connect their academic studies to practical application by offering academic credit for environmentally-focused work experience. Students will work 10-12 hours at an internship and will also attend class once a week. Articles on geography, climatology, resource allocation, remote sensing, and conservation biology will expose students to a wide range of practical and theoretical issues connected to the environment; specific focus will be on the Lake Baikal region of Siberia. The internships (at Great Lake Baikal Trail, museums or schools) will provide students with hands-on experience with environmental conservation and expose them to the day to day issues that Russian NGOs, schools and museums confront.
