PSC 268 - Electoral Politics

(Not Offered this Academic Year) Examination of elections in the U.S., including presidential, congressional, and state elections. Specific topics include the democratic theory of elections, candidate strategy, voter decision making, identity politics, campaign finance, and the electoral roles of the media, political parties, and campaign consultants. The course is typically offered every four years, during congressional midterm election years. Examination of elections in the U.S. Course is taught as a simulated presidential election with students taking on the roles of presidential candidate, campaign staff member, or journalist.
