AMU 160 - From Chant to MozartCourse Units: 1.0 (TBD: Staff) A study of compositions from the ninth century through the time of the French Revolution. Among the many topics included are Gregorian chant, music for kings and queens from the Renaissance, the effect of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation on music; the invention of opera (the predecessor of the musical); Vivaldi’s concertos, sacred music by Bach and Handel; and symphonies and operas by Haydn and Mozart.
