EGL 207 -  White Columns, White Narratives: Archi[text]ure and Race in the Middle Ages

Course Units:
This course will examine the relationship between race, architecture, and literary production in the late medieval period (1000-1500). Students will be introduced to premodern critical race studies (PCRS) through the work of scholars who necessarily examine processes of racialization, architectural practice, and literary production in the medieval period. As a class, we’ll use PCRS methods to interrogate medieval archi[text]ural narratives for the ways in which they participate in race-craft.   Prerequisite(s): One 100-level English course or a score of 5 on the AP English Language or Literature and Composition test. CC: HUL, HUM, WAC, JLIT, JCHF
