BIO 320 -  Ecology w/lab

Course Units: 1.0


This is an upper division lecture and lab course in ecology. Lectures emphasize concepts in population, community, ecosystem ecology, and statistics. Labs involve weekly field trips and are designed to encourage familiarity with local ecosystems and developing inquiry about the natural world. This course emphasizes computer skills in Excel and statistical software (R) for making figures, analyzing data, and running simulations. Additionally, this is a WAC-R (writing across the curriculum) where we develop writing skills through note taking, reflections from the field, and original research papers.

  Prerequisite(s): BIO 103  or permission of the instructor. Corequisite(s): BIO 320L CQ: SCLB, WAC, WAC-R Lecture/Lab Hours One lab per week. ISP: ENS Note: There may be field trips requiring scheduling outside of normal class time.
