CLS 121 - History of Greece

In ancient Greece we find the birth of democracy, such masterpieces of art and architecture as the Parthenon, the emergence of theater, and the advancement of great literature and philosophy, from Homer to Plato. We also find brutal military conflicts, class struggles, widespread oppression, and societal collapse. Students will trace Greek civilization from the Bronze Age and the Trojan War through the Dark Ages of Greece to the Golden Age of Athens, and explore such questions as: how does democracy take
