PSY 240 -  Developmental Psychology

Course Units: 1.0
This course explores development from conception to death, with specific attention to how development is shaped by larger historical and cultural factors.  What are the cognitive, social, biological, and behavioral milestones that occur at each stage of development?  In what ways do human beings change as they get older, and in what ways do they stay the same? How do families, schools, peers, and communities shape development? The major theoretical perspectives, methods of study, and implications for parenting, education, and social policy are emphasized.  Prerequisite(s): PSY 100    CQ: SOCS, JCHF, JSPE
