ATH 227 - New Play Laboratory

This course guides students through an embodied exploration of New Play Development. Emphasis will be placed on actor/director collaboration with playwrights, script analysis of works-in-progress, making strong and flexible acting choices, and refining the actor and director’s role as a creative partner in the workshop process. Students will investigate the professional landscape of New Play Development within the contemporary American Theatre and engage with new, unproduced scripts. Prerequisite(s): Previous experience with either acting, directing, or scriptwriting recommended.
