MER 231 - ThermodynamicsCourse Units: 1
(Fall, Winter) Basic thermodynamic principles, properties of simple substances, energy and the first law of thermodynamics, entropy and the second law of thermodynamics. Applications include basic vapor power cycles, ideal gas cycles, refrigeration and heat pump cycles. Elementary environmental economic and sustainability considerations related to thermodynamic processes. Prerequisite(s): PHY 120 , MTH 112 or MTH 113 or IMP112 or IMP 120 . Corequisite(s): CHM 101
