(Not offered 2013-14) Major works of art and artistic traditions from the 17th century to the present, primarily in western Europe. The vocabulary and techniques of painting, sculpture, architecture, the decorative arts, and printmaking; the emergence of modernism, abstraction, new materials, and non-objective art. Emphasis on the institutions of art and historical context as well. Visual analysis, verbal and written interpretation of art. LCC
