AAH 206 - Introduction to History of Architecture: The Renaissance Tradition, 15th-18th Centuries

Course Units: 1
(Not offered 2013-14) An historical survey that examines the language and functions of architecture and its roles in Western European culture. The course begins with the revival of interest in classical antiquity in the 1400s in Italy and its effect on the practice and theory of architecture. We then examine the transmission of these ideas to northern Europe during the subsequent centuries, and the evolution of architectural ideas and practices both north and south of the Alps. LCC
