SOC 346 - Sociology of Black Women’s CultureCourse Units: 1 (Not Offered this Academic Year) This course examines the socialization of black womanhood. We will explore how certain socio-historical norms shape black women’s ideas about race, gender, class, sexuality, constructions of femininity, and public and private activism. Understanding the complexities of strategies of resistance to multiple and intersecting oppressions (race, class, gender, sexuality, etc.) forms the focus of the course. Prerequisite(s): Suggested: SOC 230 , SOC 233 , GSW 100 (WGS-100) CC: LCC
