EGL 219 - Rise of the NovelCourse Units: 1.0
(Not Offered this Academic Year) Development of the novel form in its social, cultural, and literary contexts, focusing primarily on the 18th century. We will consider adventure/picaresque, domestic/epistolary and questions of genre, gender, and history. Authors include Chariton, Cervantes, Defoe, Barker, Behn, Richardson, and Burney.
