EGL 295 - Workshop in Creative Non-Fiction Course Units: 1.0 In this workshop in creative nonfiction, students write personal stories and investigate the personal as an artistic space for deep reflection, healing, empowerment, and playfulness. We study CNF pieces written by both established practitioners of the genre and fellow students. Ultimately, we explore the fraught boundary between fiction and nonfiction and examine the implications in Dickinson’s advice: ‘Tell all the truth but tell it slant.’ Prerequisite(s): One 100-level English course or a score of 5 on the AP English Language or Literature and Composition test, or permission of instructor. CC: HUL, HUM, WAC
