AAH 205 - The Art and Science of Painting

Course Units: 1.0

A historical and chemical grounding in the topic of painting and its impact on society, with a focus on the 14th to the 17th centuries. Topics include inorganic and organic pigments and binders used in late medieval workshops, fresco painting, the tempera tradition, and oil painting in the Renaissance (properties of oil, mixing pigments, glazing, drying).
