HST 220 - US Foreign Policy 1898-1991 Course Units: 1 To what extent have bottom-up protests influenced U.S. foreign policy? Why have some movements gained more visibility than others? How have Americans formed alliances beyond borders-and to what extent have they fostered meaningful transnational solidarities? To consider these questions, we will examine series of case studiesthat will begin with the Spanish-American War but focus on the Cold War period. As we go, we will build an understanding of how power works in key US foreign policy decisions. Topics include the
idea of human rights, peace protests, and anti-colonial revolutions. CC: SOCS
