HST 244 - Medieval Science Course Units: 1 In this class, you will learn why the 16th and 17th-century Scientific Revolution did not mean a replacement of “the Greek view of nature that had dominated science for almost 2000 years.” Examining primary and secondary sources, we will not only discover what “science” meant to the people who lived in the Middle Ages, we will also learn how medieval people shaped and contributed to the early modern definition of science. Throughout the Middle Ages, science remained closely related to theology and philosophy. But
even so, what science meant and how knowledge was produced radically changed over the course of 500 years. CC: SOCS, GCHF ISP: STS
