SPN 473 - Spain on Screen Course Units: 1.0 In this course we will examine works of some of Spain’s most celebrated filmmakers, focusing especially on how they portray “Spanishness,” represent Spain’s diversity, and grapple with evolving social norms and political issues. Students will become familiar with the conventions of a variety of genres, from arthouse and social realism to thriller. Students will also gain analytical and linguistic skills that will enable them to enjoy a deeper understanding of cinema and discuss it more fluently in Spanish Prerequisite(s): Two 300-level courses.
