Course Units: 1.0
This course is an introduction to concepts in music theory that enable musicians to analyze, compose, perform, and think more critically about the elements of music. Through academic inquiry and creative application, students will develop a deeper understanding of the materials that underpin music, including melody, harmony, voice leading, rhythm, texture, phrasing, and form. Students will gain insight into how composers design and construct music and then apply those techniques to their own composition assignments and projects.
