SPN 351 - Border Identities Course Units: 1.0 This course explores Chicano culture through essays, literature, and films that represent current and historical issues of the Mexican-American border. Readings will provide research and data, while literary texts and films will offer varying interpretations and representation of the border culture that will allow you to consider critically the complexities of 20th and 21st century issues that include immigration, working conditions, socio-economic status, the role of women, and identity. The course should also help you improve your proficiency in Spanish at all levels: building vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
