SPN 407 - Cultures in Contact and Conflict in Spain

Spain contains multiple nations, languages, cultures, and identities, and it is a place where the definition of “nation” and who belongs is under constant debate. To better understand these issues, students examine films, literature, political documents, news, and TV from culturally and linguistically distinct regions of Spain. Through discussions, writing, debates, and a creative project, students gain historical and cultural knowledge, Spanish skills, and new perspectives on political issues and theories.
