Course Selection Guidelines: None of the 100-level courses in Geosciences have prerequisites and any may serve as an entry point into upper level courses. ENS 100 may also serve as an entry point. Preference for 100-level courses is given to first-year students and sophomores. GEO 120 should be taken as soon as possible. Students should take a 200-level geoscience course after taking an introductory course, ideally in the second year. The 200 and 300 level geoscience courses may be taken in any order, with one exception. Students should have completed CHM 101 before taking GEO 220 ; GEO 220 is a prerequisite for GEO 320 . All Geosciences majors are required to take GEO 405 in the senior year. All Geosciences majors are required to complete a senior thesis, which may be either 1 term (GEO 498 ) or 2-3 terms (GEO 495 , GEO 496 and GEO 497 ); GEO 496 and GEO 498 satisfy the senior writing requirement (WS).
