SOC 226 - Medical Social Work Course Units: 1 An overview of the social work role in health care settings as an advocate, practitioner, and leader within interdisciplinary teams. A comprehensive view of the professional values, theories, and methods that social workers utilize in this role to provide advocacy, individual, family and group counseling, educate patients and families, effective crisis intervention, resource referrals and influence public health policies.
