BIO 355 - Immunology

Course Units: 1
The cellular and molecular basis of immunological specificity, regulatory and effector mechanisms of the mammalian immune response, and the importance of the innate immune system in the initiation and development of adaptive immunity. Laboratory exercises include basic techniques and concepts emphasizing morphological identification of leukocytes, phagocytosis, agglutination, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), mouse immunization and antibody titer determination, immune cytolysis, immunofluorescence, and western blotting. Prerequisite(s): BIO 205    Corequisite(s): BIO 355L Lecture/Lab Hours One lab per week.
